DavTee Society partnered with Victory Church to provide practical support to the children's home. The home cares for about 100 orphans.
We were able to provide funds to upgrade the water system at the children's home. A new well and filters provide clean water for children and staff. Clean water is an issue in many countries in Africa
The children's bathrooms were bare concrete which is hard to keep clean. We provided funds to tile the bathrooms. Another project was to help build new admin offices. The new offices were cooler and closer to the front so visitors could check in without wandering far.
Teresa taught First Aid to all staff of the children's home. A simpler version was taught to the children. First aid knowledge is minimal in this area. The staff had many stories of how they could have helped friends and relatives in the past if they had known what to do.
We funded the beginning of a sewing program. Students need to have viable skills when they are adults so they can be self sufficient. There is a large market for tailored clothes because both men & women wear clothes made with colorful fabric. There are many roadside stands. and small sewing businesses
DavTee Society funded equipment to start a Welding Training Program. This is another program to assist teens with employment training. It is important that they can take care of themselves & their family when they graduate from school & leave the children's home.
